Kim, I also had my tonsils taken out when I was a child, and I had my first outbreak of P 3 years ago (at 29). However, when I was in the military, I had a pretty bad sore throat, so I went to the doctor, and it turns out that my tonsils grew back. I was informed that it’s very common for tonsils to grow back. It’s almost impossible for tonsils to be 100% removed, since when they are being removed, they’re usually very swollen (why else take them out?). If they aren’t 100% removed, they have a 90% chance (according to the doctor I talked to) of growing back….Just something to think about… Timothy R. Nah, your doc shouldn’t be relegated to target practice for offering the suggestion. P can be triggered by infections, especially strep infections, and the tonsils can be a breeding ground for them or place for them to linger once they do start. In the similar case category, a particular type of P called guttate because it is in the form of multiple little drops is particularly prone to be triggered by strep infections and that might be what he thinks you have. So yeah, it might help. Or might not. Anecdotal evidence is mixed on links between the two. As you can see by the fact that the good old who has their tonsils question is being revived in another thread as we speak. So no, your doc is not totally off the wall in thinking about this. If you want to see prior talk about it, try the following link: http://pinch.com/skinny?deja=tonsils Um FWIW, I had my tonsils out years before my first P outbreak as a child, but there is anecdotal evidence of the link with some people. Might be worth checking out if what’s really the issue is an infection that may be residing in the tonsils. Good luck Kim The Psoriasis Newsgroup Resource FAQ can be found at http://pfaq.cjb.net but will also be coming soon (twice a month) to a newsgroup near you…

I understand what you are saying. I fight every day emotionally saying to my self "Today it is going to bother me" It doesn’t always turn out that way. Sometimes you feel like you have no control. I don’t like that. I have read that it could be something in your body that is not right. I believe it could be true. i have tried all the diets every cream in the world. I can understand you. hang in there. i don’t think your Doc is totally crazy but how do you know where to start. i know mine is flared by stress. Kristie

Hello all~ I have had P for who knows how long but over the last 3 years and more so recently I have had some serious flare-ups. I’d say I have over 100 spots (mall to medium ‘rosebuds’ ) which oddly enough are concentrated on the right side of my torso and on me left leg. I also have a bit of a prob with my head and ears. For a long time it was on my face as well but a doctor recently prscrbd. triamcinolone acetonide Ointment USP 0.1% which I use exclusively on my face (either side of my nose). My face is clear now and I try to use it as little as possible because I understand some of the risks . I hate this! I have another appointment (1.5 months after first call to the doc) early next year. Im rambling but I have to say i appreciate all I have read here for the last 6 months or so. One interesting thing my doc said: he had a patient who had a condition similiar to mine and had her tonsils removed. Her P cleared up shortly after.. Has anyone heard of this or should my doc be released durring duck season? Johnny P-coat
